Lines
2023
Lines is a digital publication (essay + photographs) that uses etymology as a starting point for thinking about the relationship between maintenance, care, and attention. A few years prior to starting the project, I started thinking about maintenance work. Arguably, I became obsessed with it. The more I thought about it, the more I researched it, the more I wondered why we humans tend to be so bad at it. This essay was an attempt to think through that question.
The project is generously hosted by OR Gallery in Vancouver.
My thanks to Christina Battle, Jenn Jackson, Gloria Wong, Jordan Kelly, Cherie Kelly, and Ted Kerr for all their help with this project.
